The printing of fabrics is a typical production of Romagna, according to the most ancient tradition.
Printed Romagnola cloths had a considerable diffusion until the beginning of the 900’s.
Then they were forgotten and rediscovered. The commitment and passion of the printers has been crucial to the success of the activity, which associates the printed canvas with the image of the Romagna tradition.
The traditional method of hand printing is defended by the Stampatori Tele Romagnole (Printers Association of Romagna) from industrial imitations and spreads the culture that underlies the tradition Romagna canvases themselves with its original characteristics.

The Aurelio Saffi Municipal Library is located inside the historical Palazzo del Merenda. In Forlì we mention the Public Library only from 1840 when in the sumptuous Palazzo della Missione (now entirely occupied by the Province), the first floor was vacated to house books and shelves.
In 1921, following the construction of the new hospital in Forlì, the Cultural Institutes of the City of Forlì (Library, Art Gallery and Museums) were transferred to the old hospital designed in the 18th century by architect Giuseppe Merenda, where they currently house their services.
In 1938 the Municipal Library was enriched by the Piancastelli bequest that includes over 60,000 items and countless antique or rare books to the point of verging on the unique. Impressive is the collection of autographs (together with the related documents, around 250,000) divided into various sections: from illustrious personalities from the 12th century to the early 20th century.
In 1946, the Modern Section, heir to the 19th century People’s Library, was opened to the public.
It houses the collection of manuscripts, illuminated manuscripts, ancient books, the collection of prints and drawings and all the Funds, the most important of which is the Piancastelli Fund consisting of papers from Romagna, autographs from the 12th
to the 18th century, papers from the Risorgimento, parchments, paintings, prints and engravings, coin cabinet, collection of ceramics, documents and testimonies collected over the years by Carlo Piancastelli (1867-1938).
