The small rural cemetery, where Mussolini’s mother was buried, became the subject of a complex expansion project desired by the Duce. In fact, he wanted to build a famedio to reunite the remains of his parents (his father was buried in Forli) and to give a monumental aspect to the place that was already an incessant destination of visits.
The expansion of the cemetery was organized through the construction of a portico, set on a quadrangular plan.
