Its existence is documented in the year 1291 and it has a very old structure with sections of masonry with large regular ashlars. In the 15th century there was a female monastery in Virano, dependent on the Abbey of San Donnino in Soglio near Rocca San Casciano. The entire complex of buildings that form the nucleus of Virano underwent renovations, extensions and modifications in the second half of the 19th century.
