A grand building datable between the 16th and 17th centuries. Its entrance staircase, until 1860, was crossed by a state border, the one between the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Papal State. In the first half of the 16th century, it was home to the descendants of the famous commander Uguccione della Faggiola, who took the name Mortani da Mortano.
The palace shows an elongated quadrilateral architectural conformation, whose façades are built of sandstone, and opens onto a large inner courtyard softened by 19th-century loggias. On the right side is a small park with high castle-like walls that, on the front side, slope down to the left bank of the Rio Pondo.
The interior is a succession of rooms, halls, corridors, chambers and a library, furnished with furniture from various periods and of great artistic value.
Adjacent to the palace stands the small Church of St. Francis of Assisi (16th century), rebuilt several times.
