The War Memorial in Piazzale della Vittoria, designed by Cesare Bazzani, is a central element of the urban core built during the Ventennio and one of the modern visual symbols of the city. In its white magnificence, it invites us to discover it by letting our gaze wander from the polished Doric column, 32 meters high, to the three bronze statues of Victory, and between the two altars, where the compact forms of a Homeric hero appear. A soldier caught in the heat of battle and the catharsis of death, or in the return of domestic tranquility, when the goddess sheathes her sword and the child clings to his mother. A work wrapped in the spirit of sacrifice and an expression of the cycle of life and death.
