Villa Petrucci

The 19th-century villa stands out in the hills with its castle-like shape with its high tower topped with a view over the Romagna plain as far as the sea. The villa was built in 1880 for the Count Sauli-Visconti family by a master mason, Giuseppe Pasini, who intended to build, in place of a pre-existing structure, the “Castello dell’Innominato” as he had imagined it (or probably seen it in some illustration) of Manzoni’s famous novel. In 1902, the villa passed to the noble Petrucci family of Florence. It is surrounded by a vast and ancient park of holm oaks, pines and cypresses. A magnificient Lebanese cedar of imposing proportions stands out in the forecourt. The villa is only visible from the outside.
