Overlooking the Savio valley, you will find Pantani’s peak (Cima Pantani, in Italian), that was named after the “Pirate”, the famous cyclist celebrated with a small monument at the top of the hill. Here, the road winds steeply up embracing the slopes of the hill ‘Montevecchio’, with a succession of bends and stretches with wide curves, reaching a 15% gradient in the central part. Between one bend and another, you can see some white writings on the tarmac remembering Pantani and encouraging the cyclists of all riding levels or preparation. The climb up to Pantani’s peak is preceded by Monte Cavallo’s one, which stands out for its views over the surrounding valleys.
