Facing Florence, it was defended by a drawbridge, iron gate, portcullis and machicolations. Once passed the arches of the gallery, where the Guard Corps was stationed, you enter the town by a deliberately winding path to defend it in case of an assault.
The Florentine Gate (ideally turned towards Tuscany), overlooked by the Castle of the Captain of the Artillery, was defended by a drawbridge placed in the middle of the small bridge with terracotta arches, a strong iron gate, a portcullis and machicolations. Continuarecum: after passing through the arches of the entrance gallery, where the Guard Corps used to stop, you enter the built-up area with a deliberately tortuous path that served to defend the access in case of an assault.
How to get there: By car SS 67 Tosco-Romagnola 9 km from Forlì
