The work, datable to 1520-1530 and attributed to the workshop of Giovanni della Robbia, is preserved in the church of S. Pietro in Corniolo.
The glazed terracotta represents one of the most significant works of Giovanni della Robbia’s atelier in the territory of Tuscan Romagna. It depicts the Madonna Assumed into heaven amidst a host of angels and in the lower part of the work St. Sebastian, St. Romuald with the typical white cassock of the Camaldolese and, finally, St. Anthony Abbot. The figurative area is entirely framed by the characteristic festoons of fruit and coloured flowers.
