The large cliff dominates the town of Galeata. Its conformation highlights the geological features of the Upper Bidente Valley. The characteristics of the Romagna marly-arenaceous formation, composed of alternating more compact layers (sandstones) and friable layers (marls), are noticeable.
According to a deep-rooted tradition, the locals are able to predict weather conditions through the signs and eerie “noises” of the Rupe.
Additional information: A route used by medieval pilgrims on their way to Rome (Via Romea) crosses the Rupe.
How to get there: Galeata is about 34 km from Forlì, taking the Bidente provincial road no. 4 in the direction of Meldola-Galeata-S. Sofia.
