Completely restored to its former splendor after restoration in 2010.
The church was rebuilt by the Camaldolese architect Paolo Soratini (1682-1762) in late Baroque style between 1740 and 1749. Up to 1797, the church belonged to the Benedictine Sisters of Corpus Domini, a female monastic order. Designed with a single nave, Soratini is attributed the designs for stucco decorations of the precious altarpiece of the high altar.
The painting “St. Sylvester I Pope and St. Benedict Abbot in adoration of the Sacred Heart” was made by the Forlì painter Giuseppe Marchetti (1722-1801).
