An exciting up and down path with narrow hairpin bends that are framed by the woods for a distance of 27 km. Travelling through Castrocaro Terme on an uphill dirt road that overlooks the valleys below takes less than 10 km to Monte Paolo, where the Church of S. Antonio is situated. The wooded environment around the Samoggia torrent is of incomparable charm: it is followed downhill before tackling the toughest 900 meters that lead up, along narrow and gravelly hairpin bends, to the old Converselle church. From here, along an up and down ridge, we first reach the castle of Monte Poggiolo, then Terra del Sole.
Critical points: from the old thermal baths of Sorgara, follow Via Zanetta to the top, turning left to follow the entire ridge towards Montepaolo. Before the final ascent, a short steep stretch must be overcome, at some houses.
Variants: From Montepaolo, instead of turning right for the Samoggia torrent, you can continue straight towards Dovadola to return to Castrocaro along the SS 67 road. Or, turning right immediately after the Converselle church, take a paved road that descends between Terra del Sole and Castrocaro.
