Square of St. Anthony, design F. Di Fausto, 1926-1927
The current town hall is located in a dominant position with respect to the square. Of ancient origins, it was the home of the Mussolini family for about twenty years in the late 1800s. Between 1926 and 1927, the building was extensively remodeled by the architect Florestano Di Fausto, who modified its rural appearance with the addition of the clock tower. It can be visited during the opening hours of the municipal offices.
Of particular interest is the staircase that leads from the square to the Varano Palace, which takes the form of a large arrow, symbolically pointing towards the Rocca delle Caminate, the private residence of the Head of Government.Going up and looking to the right, once you have reached the highest square, you can see the large cage in which a golden eagle, a symbol of Romanism, lives.
