Built in 1893, this building occupied a central position in the cultural life of the city for many years. Originally intended as a theatre, in 1945 it was converted into a cinema under the name ‘Cinema Italia’, undergoing a complete renovation in 1965. After its closure in 1979, the building underwent rigorous restoration and modernisation in the early 2000s, under the guidance of architect Annalisa Balzoni and engineer Franco Faggiotto. Transformed into a versatile multimedia hall, it reopened its doors in January 2000, and has since become a lively venue for theatre seasons, film festivals and cultural events of various kinds, including conventions and conferences of public interest.
