The Rocca d’Elmici is located on the left side of the Rabbi river, opposite the Rocca delle Caminate. Until 1859 it was part of the municipality of Predappio. All that remains today are the ruins of the walls of the ancient fortress and traces of what was once a controversial and repeatedly destroyed fortification. Castrum Elmitiae, was first fundus then castrum. From 900 it was under the rule of the Calboli; in 970 it passed to Ugone del Sasso, then to Simone di Particeto, who donated the castle to the Abbey of Isola. Set on fire by the Florentines in 1236, the fortress passed to the Curia of Ravenna, then again to the Calboli and the Ordelaffi, then to the Holy See (1359), which gave it to Cervatto Sassoni of Cesena. Returning to the Ordelaffi, it was fortified by Pino III in 1471 and from 1535 it passed definitively to the Municipality of Forlì.
Opening hours: Visit only from the outside, as it is in ruins.
How to get there: The fortress is located a short distance from the road that leads from Fiumana to Predappio.
