The old church of the plebeians was already mentioned in an 1174 document, but the present building dates back to the beginning of the century.
The entire Sadurano territory belonged, in ancient times, to the Bishops of Forli, to whom it was confirmed in 1177 by Emperor Frederick I of Swabia, known as ‘Barbarossa’.
On the highest summit of the hill of Sadurano, in the year 1213, the Forli inhabitants built a castle to keep Castrocaro under control.
This fortress was destroyed and rebuilt several times until, in 1482, it was finally dismantled by the Florentines. Still visible are the ruins of a square tower built in 1387 by Pino Ordelaffi, lord of Forli.
Holiday opening hours: Open only on Sundays from 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
Entrance fee: Free entrance.
The church is located in via Sadurano, 5 km east of Castrocaro Terme
