Several mills still survive in Modigliana, this one in particular, thanks to its owner, has returned to its former glory.
The territory of Modigliana used to have several of these water mills, both north and south of the town, all of considerable size and with several millstones: Tavernelle, Renaccio, Savelli di via Lega, San Donato, Berleta or Isola, Bellone, the Molinone, now replaced by cylinder or mechanised, computer-controlled mills.
The Berleta mill is located just below the town, about two kilometres in the direction of Faenza, with the old riverbed in front of it, which has formed a discrete plain that was intensively cultivated with vegetables in the past. Thanks to the efforts of the current owner, Carlo Tagiaferri, the mill has returned to its former glory.
How to get there: About 2 km from Modigliana in the direction of Faenza.
