Villa Badia is located within the urban center of the town. The imposing building consists of the villa and the abbey of Sant’Andrea.
The ancient Cluniac abbey, for centuries reduced to an aristocratic villa, is dominated by the profile of a Romanesque bell tower.
The park that surrounds it, despite the disappearance of the ancient oak forest, is still large and evocative, rich in pines and cypresses. Next to the villa stands the Romanesque Abbey of Sant’Andrea, linked for centuries to the residence as iuspatronage of the families that succeeded one another: first the Borghese Princes, then the Tassinari, known as the Badia, who continued in the Blanc Tassinari. It consists of a complex of several three-storey buildings that still give the idea of an abbey due to their size and structure, despite recent transformations. The interior features several rooms rich in furnishings and valuable paintings. Of particular interest is the ancient patriarchal kitchen with its coffered ceiling and large fireplace; the walls still display a family coat of arms, an ancient Madonna with a small lamp in front of it and a large quantity of copper utensils.
The villa is currently owned by the Friends of Benedetta Foundation.
