Hermitage of Gamogna – TredozioFounded in 1053 by the Abbot Cardinal Pier Damiani, it was converted into a parish church in recent years due to the mountain’s depopulation. In 1053 it was under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Pieve di San Valentino, rather than being part of the municipality of Tredozio.
An accurate restoration brought it back to its original splendour. The hermitage is currently run by the Jerusalem Monastic Fraternities, in a decidedly international setting, who offer the possibility of spending one or more days of austere spiritual retreat, sharing everything: prayer, meals, simple manual labour, silence.
How to get there: On the road leading south from Tredozio towards Mount Tramazzo, at 8 km it is possible to park the car and walk for half an hour towards the crest. It can also be reached by car on the dirt road that goes south from Lutirano, 6 km from Tredozio. At Ponte della Valle the dirt road ends and the road to Trebana begins.
Entrance Fee: Free entrance
