At the entrance of Acquacheta Valley, in the middle land between the later Castrocaro and Terra del Sole settlements, lies the ancient Byzantine parish church, dating back to 549.
Although the first written testimony dates back to 970.
It was deconsecrated in 1820. The sacred temple was built in Byzantine style with three naves and five arches on each side, the remains of which are still visible from the road of the Biondina.
The Saint had been martyred in Asia Minor in the persecution of Emperor Decius (250-251).
Her cult from Byzantium had reached Ravenna and then Lucca and Florence, occupied by the Byzantines from 511 to 570. Florence dedicated the first cathedral to the Saint and, along the road to Tuscany, both to Terra del Sole, Modigliana and Marradi, there are three churches that bear her name.
Opening hours: Can only be visited externally
Directions: Halfway between the two towns of Castrocaro Terme and Terra del Sole, along the Biondina road.
