Small but important passage in the walls.
Standing isolated, in splendid solitude, once one of the main access roads to the village of Bertinoro, the Porta del Soccorso (Relief Gate) recalls in its name the military aid provided by Aldruda Frangipane to the city of Ancona besieged by the imperial army of Christian of Mainz in 1172. Her kindness and nobility are expressed in a sense of freedom that opposes abuse: the morning of 14 May 1172 she led the people of Bertinoro in arms to come down to the aid of Ancona exhausted by the long siege. The noble figure of Aldruda leaves Bertinoro a legacy of values, which are represented in the Column of Rings.
