The parish church of San Martino in Strada, dedicated to St Martin of Tours, a 4th-century Christian bishop, has very ancient origins: the earliest documentary records date back to 962. The ancient church, in Lombard style with a basilica plan, has been remodelled several times over time. Inside, you can still admire a very scenic painting of the Sacred History and a fresco of a medieval Madonna holding the baby Jesus in her arms. The Madonna is depicted here in the background with small stars around her halo, her head gently bent towards the baby Jesus, who wears a yellow robe as he feeds and looks at the observer. On her arm dangles a coral necklace, in accordance with widespread iconography, a symbol of the blood and the Passio Christi.
Opening Hours: Daily, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
