Leopoldo Battistini, Viriato Silva, 1926/27, Maiolica policrome, Predappio, Asylum of Santa Rosa
The Virgin, with the Child on her knees, greets two angels who carry her a voluminous fascio littorio. The work, made with the Portuguese technique of glazed ceramics known as azulejos, was commissioned by the hierarch Ezio Maria Grey, who presented it in 1927 to the Duce, who wanted to send it as a gift to Predappio, where it found a home in the corridor of the kindergarten run by the Ursuline nuns.
