Located in Piazza Melozzo degli Ambrogi, along Corso Garibaldi towards Porta Schiavonia, it stands on the remains of an ancient church dating back to the 4th-5th century, originally facing west. According to tradition, it was the first cathedral in Forlì. In 1782, based on a design by Francesco Baccheri, it was decided to reverse the orientation of the church, with the entrance facing east. The interior of the church, built in Baroque style, has a single nave with four altars on each side. At the entrance, there is a pink marble stoup, probably originally a pagan altar. On the left side, one can admire an episcopal stool in veined Greek marble, presumably dating back to the 5th century and traditionally associated with St Mercurial. Particularly noteworthy is the Funeral Monument to Domenico Manzoni, created in 1817 by Antonio Canova and placed in the pillar between the third and fourth chapels on the left side of the nave.
Opening Hours:
