The construction of Garibaldi Square, aimed at the scenic enhancement of Mussolini’s birthplace above, was designed and built between 1928 and 1930 by the architect Florestano Di Fausto.
Every year, on the fourth Sunday of May and the fourth Sunday of September, there is a market in Piazza Garibaldi called “Oma’s Trunk”.
The weekly market takes place every Wednesday and Friday morning.
Piazza Garibaldi finds its full and significant place in the context of the events related to the foundation and construction of Predappio Nuova, which unfolded between 1925 and 1942 and saw the relocation of the old city center further downstream, from Predappio Alta to Dovia.
Together with Piazza S. Antonio, it is one of the main sites of the new center.
The construction of Piazza Garibaldi was intended to enhance the scenery of the house above it: designed and built between 1928 and 1930 by Florestano Di Fausto, the square has a semicircular structure with a low portico along the perimeter.
