The Rocca dei Conti Guidi in Dovadola was the site of no less than 11 fortifications. Only a few vestiges remain, or the memory of them.
However, the fortress, dating back to the 12th century and probably built on Lombard outposts, is in a good state of preservation.
Castelruggero, 3 km from the town, is in ruins. The tower that dominates the square and the village was also built by the Guidi family at the beginning of the 13th century.
