Diego Fabbri Theatre

The Diego Fabbri Theatre, the jewel in the crown of Forlì’s cultural scene, opened its doors in September 2000 with a memorable performance by the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra of Milan, conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti. This event marked the beginning of a new era for the city, which until then had experienced the lack of an Italian-style theatre due to the destruction of the Municipal Theatre in 1944, during a bombing raid that destroyed the civic tower on the building, located at the time near the current Piazzetta della Misura. Following this devastating loss, the most important shows were hosted at the Astra cinema, located in Corso Diaz, which later became known as ‘Teatro Astra’. Finally, with its restoration in 2000, this space was reborn as the ‘Teatro Diego Fabbri’, dedicated to the famous playwright from Forlì. Currently managed by the Municipality, the theatre has 710 seats, including 550 in the stalls and 160 in the gallery, as well as a foyer with 100 seats and two rehearsal rooms. Its presence represents a referential point for local culture, but also a meeting and discovery place for lovers of the performing arts.
