St Nicholas and St Francis Church is located in Via Garibaldi.
It was formerly the Franciscan convent church and became a parish church in 1783, following the suppression of the Convent of Friars Minor.
In ancient times, it was the Franciscan convent church (almost certainly from the nearby Montepaolo hermitage), mentioned on 23 April 1280 in the will of Raniero de Calboli.
However, the present temple dates back to 1398, the previous one having been destroyed by war.
The interior has three naves and preserves a distinguished work by the Forlì painter Marco Palmezzano (1500), depicting the Blessed Virgin with Saints Augustine and Anthony, and a pulpit made of sandstone pulpit dated 1533.
In the left aisle are: two frescoes, one depicting the Blessed Virgin with Saints Sebastian and Rocco and the other, Saint Sebastian, both from the Romagna school of the late 15th century, in the first chapel; an altarpiece with Our Lady of Mount Carmel, by the Bolognese Carlo Cignani (1628-1719), in the second chapel; a canvas depicting Saint Anthony, by the Forlì painter Giuseppe M. Galleppini (1625-1650) in the third one.
The right aisle contains an ancon of the Crucifixion, attributed to the school of Modigliani (1592), in the first chapel; an altarpiece showing the Visitation of Mary Mary’s Visitation to St Elizabeth, by the Ravenna painter Francesco Longhi (1611), in the second chapel; an altarpiece showing the chapel; a bas-relief stucco of the Blessed Virgin and Child (15th century) known as the Madonna ei Fiori, venerated as the protector of the town, in the third chapel.
