Beautiful oratory with architectural lines of the 18th century, but certainly older. Inside there is a fresco depicting the Madonna with the Child (14th century) on a late Baroque altar restored in 2000. The Oratory is open every day (mornings and afternoons). Not far from the parish church of St. Peter stands a charming oratory with 18th century architectural lines, but certainly of older origin.
It owes its present appearance to the priest Giovanni Taddeo Fabbri, brother of Innocenzo Maria, who was cured of an incurable illness through the intercession of a holy image of the Virgin Mary. As the epigraph above the entrance door (inside the façade) recalls, the image was placed inside the temple in 1722.
The façade has a portico with columns and capitals. The interior is dominated by a late Baroque altar in painted stucco framing a fresco of the Madonna with Child, dated around 1425/50, which has undergone a restoration that has revealed the polychrome marble decorations. On the left wall there is a fresco of Mary Enthroned with the Child between St. Peter and St. Mary Magdalene (16th century) from the church of S. Maria delle Farnie al Corniolino. Beside it is a reproduction on canvas of the eighteenth-century painting which covered the fresco inside the altar.
In the belfry of the church there are two bells dating from 1257: ‘Per Petrus fieri me fecit A.D. MCCLVII’ (Peter the priest made me in the year of our Lord 1257).
